Graduation Card

Wednesday, April 29, 2009
A friend has asked me to do a Graduation card for her son who is graduating tomorrow. In lieu of the fabulous new Hero Arts Graduation stamps that are coming out soon - which I will have to purchase - I decided that the obvious choice is a mortar board. So here it is...

I used the Stampin Up Contgratulations set, and embossed with Hero Arts white embossing powder. I made the tassel as well - what would I do without Google??? The inside of the card was printed out on my computer, and I actually did two inserts so that my friend could choose which one to use.

The Big 30

I am quite proud of this card if I do say so myself. It was a colleague at work's birthday today, so I offered to make a card for him for everyone to sign. Happy Birthday David!
I used the Penny Black big Alphabet for the letters and chipboard numbers which I painted black and then put on dimensional lacquor to make it all shiny - love the stuff. As usual lots of buttons, a few rounds of stitching on the sewing machine, and even used staples for the first time on the ribbon tabs. Bit tricky the staples, considering I had the staples yet could not unearth the stapler anywhere, so I improvised and pushed the staple in by hand and then pressed over the ends. It worked so I am happy.

This is my first card to participate in the Kristina Werner Colour Inspiration Challenge #50

I have seen quite a few of these flower pot cards on blogs and knew that I had to give it a go. Thanks to Stephanie Luman for her inspiration and easy to follow instructions on the Flower Pot Card - here

And here is the inside of the card. I printed the words on my printer.

Late Night Cards..

Tuesday, April 21, 2009
It seems that inspiration is only coming to me at about 11.30pm, which makes getting up for work at 7.00am very difficult.

Here is my latest creation, which has been inspired by a lot of the window cards that I have been looking at lately.

Here is the inside of the card.

All HA Stamps - S5051, LL050, CL184

I embossed the background with clear embossing powder, and stamped the tulip on watercolour paper and used watercolour pencils to colour in. To give dimension I put two layers of tulip petal on. I also embossed the green strip under the ribbon with my cuttlebug.

Now I am off to start making a couple of cards that I have been planning in my head all day for Caardvarks new challenge - to create a new tree themed card - see here. Hope my ideas work........

Happy Birthday Dad

Sunday, April 19, 2009
It was my dad's birthday today - Happy Birthday Dad!! Had dinner with mum and dad which is always fantastic - I am so blessed to have them living so close to us now.

Here is the card I spent ages making - couldn't quite decide how to put it together, but was inspired by Kristina Werner's Finally Friday card here. I had initially used a different "DAD" combination, but it didn't quite suit, so changed to the one below.

Finally the weekend!

Friday, April 17, 2009
Another week is over - although this looks like I am posting on a Friday morning, here in Australia it is 10:30pm Friday night. Perfect time for relaxing after dinner with family, and my darling boy is fast asleep in bed. Riley turns 4 in a month and has already requested a superhero birthday party so he can wear his batman suit. He had a pirate party last year.... hence the photo below and the fabulous Treasure Chest cake that I made!!

Hello world!

I have finally joined the blogging community after spending hours pouring over other people's blogs getting inspirations for my card making. I think I have finally built up the confidence to be able to share my work with other people and hopefully give them some inspiration as well!

Wishing everyone a belated Happy Easter, and here is my favourite Easter card that I created.
